Hexbugs

Hexbug is a six-legged toy robot. Hexbug has a few simple behaviors. Once switched on, Hexbug will move forward with a classic alternating tripod gait. If an obstruction touches either of the antennae, or if it detects a loud sound it will back up to the left and then continue forward. The name Hexbug however has more to do with the shape of the packaging it is sold in than the number of legs it has.

Other Hexbugs include, the inchworm, the crab (hides under dark spaces and reacts to audio stimuli), the ant (programed to move until it reaches an obstacle at which time it turns around and continues in a reverse route), and the nano (which act very similarly to a bug and will flip itself over if it is placed on its back). The nano being most recent, and has its own accessory set, including a habitat in which the bugs can interact, as well as a specimen case.

Original Hexbugs

Original Hexbugs

HEXBUG feels its way around sensing objects in its path and avoiding them. And it can even hear! You can control where it scurries through a hand clap, loud noise or table slap. The robotic bug will travel forward until it hits an obstacle or hears a loud noise. It will then backup in a half circle and then move forward in a different direction.

Hexbug Ants

Hexbug Ants

The autonomous robotic creature that reacts to touch. The HEXBUG-ANT is a high-speed robotic creature that changes direction in reaction to physical obstacles in its path. Ant will race forward until it encounters an obstacke and then race backwards. Unique chatter wheels make noixe when traveling over hard surfaces.

Hexbug Crabs

Hexbug Crabs

The robotic creature that reacts to touch and sound. The HEXBUG Crab is a robotic creature that will hide in shaded areas until a loud sound or exposure to light chases it out into the open. The Crab will change direction autonomously in pre-programmed intervals or in reaction to loud sounds.

Hexbug Inchworms

Hexbug Inchworms

The robotic creature that reacts to touch and sound. The HEXBUG Inchworm is the 1st full-range control robotic creature in the HEXBUG lineup. Dual band control means two seperate Inchworms can be controlled at the same time.

Hexbug Nanos

Hexbug Nanos

The Nano creature's ability to flip over by itself is due to the rotating forces caused by the motor and the unique internal and external chassis design (and a little magic). Every Nano includes an exclusive access code that allows you to track your Nano collection, play games, and learn about real science!
